To assemble the worm wheel set, we suggest following the instructions enclosed with the set.

Run in:

A running period is obligatory for all worm wheel sets with adjustable backlash.

Lubrification:

We don't suggest using grease because there is no circulation so the heat generated is kept inside the housing causing the risk of expansion ad overheating.

With oil lubrification, the peripheral speed must be Vp < 8-9 m/1". With grease lubrification, the peripheral speed must be Vp < 1-1.5 m/1".

Suggested Viscosity for mineral base lubricant.

Please call us if you wish to use synthetic lubricant oil.

Conclusion:

The backlash between the worm and the wheel can be checked and adjusted to within limited values but not completely eliminated.

If the worm wheel set is mounted and lubricated according these instructions, it will preserve the required backlash and should not need more than 3 or 4 adjustments during its lifetime.
